The City’s efforts to increase urban greening will include planting trees, shading buildings with trees, enhancing pedestrian/bicycle paths, as well as enhancing parks/greenspaces, and mimicking natural systems.

Citywide Tree Planting – The City’s commitment to reduce commute vehicle-miles-traveled by constructing bicycle/pedestrian paths that provide safe routes for travel between residences, workplaces, commercial centers, and schools has resulted in its construction of the Antelope Run Bike Trail and Valley Boulevard Bike Path (between Tucker Road and Curry Street). A new Tehachapi Boulevard Bike Path will also begin construction in Summer 2017. With this grant, more than 600 micro-climate-appropriate trees will enhance:

•Antelope Run Bike Trail (225 trees)

•Valley Blvd Bikeway (25 trees)

•Tehachapi Boulevard Bike Path (266 trees)

•Antelope Run Trail head Lot (10 trees)

•Curry Street Median (40 trees)

•Sherm Chitwood Reservoir (35 trees)
