Responsibilities & Services

The finance department provides reliable financial services for the City of Tehachapi and assists City Council, the city manager, and operating departments with accurate and prudent financial information through budgeting, financial analysis and fiscal management.

The Finance Department is responsible for providing all aspects of the city's financial functions including:

  • Accounts payable, check processing and 1099 reporting
  • Annual (or multi-year) budget preparation
  • Cost effectiveness and cost / benefit analysis
  • Federal transportation
  • Financial record keeping
  • Financial reporting
  • Grant tracking
  • Payroll processing and periodical payroll reporting
  • Project cost and analysis
  • Prudent fiscal planning, cash management and debt administration
  • Redevelopment Agency financial administration
  • Special districts coordination
  • Utility billing and collection
