[ARCHIVED] TPD Prescription Drug Take Back Results

On Saturday, October 28, 2017 the Tehachapi Police Department participated in the Drug Enforcement Administration’s (DEA) National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day, which aims to provide a safe, convenient, and responsible means of disposing of prescription drugs. The Tehachapi Police Department collected approximately 160.3 pounds of unwanted or unused prescription drugs and medications on Saturday.

"Abuse of prescription medications and the illegal selling of those drugs are a huge problem in this country. The collection of more than 160 pounds of dangerous drugs keeps them out of our schools," said Kent Kroeger Chief of Police.

On April 29, 2017 TPD collected 251.6 pounds of prescription drugs in the semi-annual event. Tehachapi residents turned in approximately 411.9 pounds of unwanted prescription medications to the Tehachapi Police Department in 2017.

For more information about the disposal of prescription drugs go to the DEA Diversion website or call the Tehachapi Police Department at 661-822-2222.
