Wreaths Across America Accepting Donations for Tehachapi
The Tehachapi community is invited to take part as one of 1,400 locations nationwide in this year’s Wreaths Across America ceremony honoring military veterans.
Each year, Wreaths Across America oversees wreath-laying ceremonies on December 15th as part of the organization’s mission to Honor, Remember and Teach about our Nation’s veterans. Each veteran’s grave is marked with a holiday wreath purchased with donations and sponsorship dollars from the community.
Once again the Tehachapi Cemetery District will be participating in this cause with wreath-laying ceremonies at both the Eastside and Westside Cemeteries on December 15th. There are 700 veteran gravesites in Tehachapi that are in need of a wreath. The total cost for the wreaths is $7000 with all funding being collected locally.
Local Tehachapi liaison Jim Jacobs says people can donate money to purchase wreaths to help meet the needs of all local veterans or they can sponsor the wreath for a specific friend or family member’s resting place. Along with monetary contributions, local volunteers are needed to help place the wreaths on December 15th in the ceremony that will begin at 10:30 AM at the Westside Cemetery.
Donations can be dropped off at Tehachapi City Hall, 115 S. Robinson Street, Monday-Thursday 7 AM-5:30 PM. For more information or to volunteer, email Jim Jacobs at email@example.com.
