The City of Tehachapi is pleased to announce the hiring of Don Marsh as Public Works Director. Marsh, a Tehachapi resident, has more than 15 years of management experience including 11 years as a Maintenance Manager, Engineer and Planner at Lehigh Cement Company in Tehachapi.
Marsh takes over for Ryan Montgomery who left the position in May to return to his native Indiana.
Along with his experience at Lehigh, Marsh recently worked at Stantec Consulting Services for the last 13 years in Bakersfield, Calif. as a Senior Principal. There he was responsible for overall leadership, direction as well as execution of engineering and design projects. He also spent three years in Los Angeles at the Bechtel Corporation as a process system engineer before coming to Tehachapi. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo.
His addition to the City of Tehachapi means executive level leadership for the Public Works Department as Marsh has overseen operations and maintenance budgets exceeding $25 million and has experience with capital projects budgets of $100 million. In his previous maintenance management roles Marsh has developed human resource policies, annual performance review processes and work practice programs.
"Thanks to the leadership of Ryan Montgomery over the last year and Tyler Napier in the interim, our Public Works team is stronger than ever and I feel Don’s addition as leader of that group will continue to keep them on the right track," said City Manager Greg Garrett. "We had a talented pool of qualified candidates, all of which had the best for the City of Tehachapi in mind. The hiring committee felt Don Marsh was the perfect candidate for this leadership role and we are looking forward to his contributions to our City. "
