On Saturday, October 27th, 2018 the Tehachapi Police Department will participate in the Drug Enforcement Administration’s (DEA) National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day, which aims to provide a safe, convenient, and responsible means of disposing of prescription drugs.
“Proper disposal of prescription medication is an important service we can provide to our citizens. Keeping these medications out of the hands of children and off the streets is a concern for law enforcement,” said Kent Kroeger Chief of Police.
City of Tehachapi Utilities Supervisor Tyler Napier also commented on the importance of the Drug Take-Back event, “Prescription medicine have been routinely flushed down the toilet over the years, these drugs end up back in our water table. Proper disposal of these medications will help keep our water clean and safe.”
The DEA host the National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day twice a year and the next event will be held in April 2019.
