If you need public documents, please submit a records request form to the City Clerk’s office. We will respond within 10 days.

If you are planning a special event to which you will be inviting the public, you will need to complete a special use application 60 to 90 days prior to the event. Contact City Hall at (661) 822-2200 or click on the link provided for further details.

Extra copies of the agenda are always available at City Hall. You can also download a copy of the agenda from our website, or sign up to receive notification when new agendas are available for viewing.

3. How do I get on the City Council?

City Council Members, the City Treasurer and the City Clerk are all elected officials serving four year terms. Elections are held in November of every even numbered year. For more information on how to run for office please contact the City Clerk’s office at (661) 822-2200, ext. 101.

1. What are your hours?

City Hall is open from 7:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday.

2. Where is City Hall located?

We are located at 115 South Robinson Street, between Tehachapi Blvd and F St.

3. Where can I pay my water bill?

You can pay your water bill at City Hall Monday through Thursday during office hours. After hours payments can be dropped into the night-drop box across from the City Hall front door and will be processed the following business day. You can also pay you bill online by clicking the link below or sign up for automatic payments by filling out the Direct Debit Form and returning it to City Hall at 115 S Robinson St.

4. Where is the DMV?

The DMV travel run no longer comes to Tehachapi. The closest DMV office is in Arvin. For more information please call 1-800-777-0133.

5. Who do I call to shut my water off when I need to make repairs?

Please call City Hall at (661) 822-2200 to shut off your water for repairs. Water service start-up or termination forms are available at City Hall.

1. How do I make a crime report?

Dial (661) 822-2222 to speak to a Police Technician. Alternatively, you may file an online police report by clicking here!

2. If I don’t agree with a parking violation I received, what can I do about it?

You may appeal the violation(s) associated with your notice online at:  www.CitationProcessingCenter.com or you may appeal by mail by submitting a copy of the citation and an explanation of any extenuating circumstances and/or why you believe this violation(s) was issued in error. 

Appeals sent via mail must be RECEIVED WITHIN 14 DAYS OF THE MAILING DATE OF YOUR NOTICE. Those appeals received after 14 days of the mailing date will not be accepted.  You may submit photographs or other documents to support your position. These documents will not be returned to you. Please type or print clearly . You may use the enclosed envelope to submit your appeal to the address on the front of your notice.

3. How do I make a complaint about a police officer?

4. What area does the Police Department serve?

We provide service within the Tehachapi City limits. If service is needed outside the City limits, please contact the Kern County Sheriff.

5. How do I contact the Police Department after business hours?

In an emergency, dial “911.” The lobby is open 24x7.

There is no set schedule at this time.

2. Where can I get an encroachment permit?

If you need an encroachment permit, please contact the Development Services Department at 661-822-2200 x 114. You can also fill out an Encroachment Permit and drop it off at the City Hall Annex, 117 S Robinson St. 

3. Will the City fix my sidewalk?
